Gatlinburg is the gateway to the most-visited national park in the country, but there’s more to our bucket-list town than mountain trails. If you’re planning a trip to Gatlinburg, here are a few hidden gems worth adding to your agenda!

Iconic Views

SkyPark Skybridge

For some of the best views in Gatlinburg, take the chairlift up to Gatlinburg SkyPark and float above the Smokies. Feeling brave? Cross the SkyBridge—the longest pedestrian cable bridge in North America—for unbeatable 360° mountain views. Another must-visit is Anakeesta, where you can ride the scenic Chondola to the summit, stroll through lush treetop skywalks, and soak in breathtaking vistas from their mountaintop observation towers and enjoy many dining and shopping options while taking in the beautiful scenery.

Arts and Crafts Community

Fowlers Pottery Arts & Crafts

One of Gatlinburg’s best-kept cultural spots is the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community. This 8-mile loop winds past galleries, studios, and shops where you can meet local artisans and pick up handmade goods. It’s the perfect place to find a souvenir with real character. For even more artistic inspiration, visit the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts downtown, a nationally recognized center for craft education offering galleries, workshops, and exhibitions open to the public.

Haunted Gatlinburg

Mysterious Mansion

With so much history in the area, it’s no surprise that Gatlinburg has its share of ghost stories. If you’re into the spooky and supernatural, there are plenty of ways to explore that side of town—like a downtown ghost walk, a visit to the famously haunted Greenbrier Restaurant, a trip to eerie Cades Cove, or a haunted tour at the Mysterious Mansion.

Underrated Hiking Trails

Ramsey-Cascades-Kristi-Parsons

Gatlinburg has its share of popular hikes, but if you’re looking to skip the crowds, there are some underrated trails worth seeking out. Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is a quieter scenic drive option with beautiful waterfalls, while the newly restored Ramsey Cascades trail leads to the tallest waterfall in the park, flowing straight from Mt. Guyot. For sweeping Smoky Mountain views at the highest point on the Appalachian Trail, head up the Kuwohi Trail to the observation tower.

Outdoor Adventures

Ober Mountain Cloud Catcher zipline

Gatlinburg has plenty of lesser-known outdoor adventures worth adding to your list. Go ziplining for a new perspective on the Smokies, ride the rapids on a whitewater rafting trip or explore the landscape on horseback. You can also play a round of golf surrounded by mountain views or take the whole family for a game of mini-golf. There’s no shortage of ways to stay active while you’re here!
