City Releases Special Edition Vacation Guide and Commemorative Videos; Showcases Stories of People and Places Behind Gatlinburg’s Heritage

The city of Gatlinburg has kicked off its year-long celebration of the city’s 75th anniversary by capturing and sharing the true heritage of America’s preeminent mountain home. Throughout 2020, the city will share the stories of those who contributed to Gatlinburg’s rise from dirt road to America’s most visited mountain town, highlighting those who first settled in the heart of the city to those who have continued to carry on their legacy.

To kick off the commemorative year, Gatlinburg has just released its most indispensable visitors guide yet. Filled with more insider tips, resources and feature articles than ever before, Gatlinburg’s special edition 2020 guide offers the city’s most compelling stories created through the decades and invites visitors to come explore American’s Mountain Home and create their own stories. The 2020 Vacation Guide is now available for download here.

Coinciding with the release of the 2020 Vacation Guide, Gatlinburg has launched a special 75th Anniversary landing page at gatlinburg.com/75th that recounts the city’s history and features historic photos and a series of captivating videos spotlighting the origin and spirit of some of the city’s most beloved attractions and personalities. Each video captures a story that pays homage to Gatlinburg’s heritage, the resourcefulness of its forefathers and their love for the mountain culture – from craftsmen, to artists, to candy makers, and yes, even moonshine. The videos will be released on a rolling schedule so that stories are shared all throughout the year.

Since 1945, hundreds of millions of people and countless generations of families have visited Gatlinburg, and throughout 2020, Gatlinburg will celebrate the untold number of hearty meals, family attractions and cozy cabins and hotels that have hosted reunions, honeymoons and getaways of all kinds for guests of all ages and backgrounds.
