Getting to Gatlinburg, TN

Most visitors arrive by car, as Gatlinburg is only a day's drive from two-thirds of the U.S. population. For those flying in, McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) in Knoxville is the closest commercial airport, just an hour's scenic drive away. Once you arrive, getting around is a breeze with numerous parking options and the free Gatlinburg Trolley system, connecting downtown attractions, restaurants, and shops, allowing you to explore at your own pace. Current Tennessee Road Closures
I-40 is reduced to ONE LANE in each direction from MM 446 to the TN/NC border due to flooding/rockslide.

I-26 in Unicoi County is reopened to all traffic but is reduced to one lane between MM 39 and MM 40 in Erwin.
All overweight vehicles and any vehicle wider than 10 feet are prohibited and must continue to use the established I-81 and I-77 detour.
US 441/Newfound Gap Road Closure
As always, Newfound Gap Rd is closed to ALL commercial vehicles
Great Smoky Mountains National Park has announced the closure of U.S. 441 on the Tennessee side of the park beyond Sugarlands Visitor Center to Newfound Gap due to landslide causing extensive road repairs. This closure does not impact access to Gatlinburg, and the city continues to welcome visitors as usual. Travelers can remain using primary entry points to the city, including Highway 321 from Pigeon Forge and Interstate 40, and US 441 via the Great Smoky Mountains Parkway from Knoxville. Travelers coming from North Carolina can reach Gatlinburg via Cosby and Highway 321. Several access points to Great Smoky Mountains National Park from Gatlinburg remain open for visitors.
