Have a Dinner for Two
Don’t worry - love bird is not on the menu at any of Gatlinburg’s romantic restaurants and eateries. But, the chance to reenact the Lady and the Tramp spaghetti scene might just be the spéciale du jour. Whether you want an intimate dinner for two, or bringing take out back to the cabin or hotel room is more your style, there’s something for everyone and every occasion.
Nothing quite beats the age old tradition of getting your sweetheart something sweet. Candy and chocolate are sure-fire ways to any person’s heart. Lucky for you, candy shops have been a hallmark of Gatlinburg since the 1930s. Ditch the typical “Be Mine” candy hearts for hand-dipped chocolates, candy apples, and homemade fudge.
Ride into a Smoky Mountain Sunset
As far as lovey-dovey settings go, it doesn’t get much better than the rolling vistas and picturesque mountain tops of the Great Smoky Mountains. Catch an evening view with your loved one snuggled up by the fire, by an overlook, or literally riding into the sunset on one of Gatlinburg’s many scenic chairlifts.
It Takes Two, Baby
Create something together! Check out the “You Create” classes in the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community. Try your hand at painting hand-thrown pottery, fused glass, or jewelry making with a skilled artist to guide you step by step. Take home a unique item you crafted together.
Gatlinburg is home to some of the most innovative and delicious spirits around. Sip some new wines from one of the numerous wineries and take a bottle back to the cabin for sharing. Or, sample some of Appalachia’s traditional spirit – moonshine - in traditional and not so traditional flavors.
Experience Something New
There’s definitely a bond forged when trying something new together. Your romantic getaway in Gatlinburg is the perfect time to spice things up by planning a special outing for you and your loved one. Hold hands along a quiet mountain stream or take a scenic drive in the Smokies. For our more adventurous folks, carve up the ski slopes or ride one of the many mountain coasters in town. Treat yourself after to a soak in the hot tub. Check out things to do here.
Leave your cares behind and escape to a cabin in the mountains to just relax and get to know each other all over again. Imagine a weekend with stunning vistas, warm fires, and time together with your special someone - a setting approved by Cupid, himself. If you want more pampering, though, a hotel may be more your speed. Check out some of the best places for couples to stay here.
