When we talk about the sound of music here, we don't mean the famous musical with Julie Andrews, but a host of venues in Gatlinburg where you can take your pick of great live music. Many of these venues are some of the well-known restaurants in town, and another is a great free opportunity to see and hear artists perform on the streets of Gatlinburg.
Let's explore a few of Gatlinburg's great summer music venues:
Loco Burro: Gatlinburg has no shortage of unique restaurants and night spots, and a real favorite is this Tex-Mex restaurant that features the only rooftop patio in town. It’s a fun place to hang out and offers a fire pit area and full bar. The rooftop patio makes a great venue for live music and dinner too. When you visit check out their amazing Fresh Tex- Mex menu that features their World Famous Fajitas and Margaritas. Enjoy their mesquite grilled specialties like Carne Asada (a 10 oz. marinated skirt steak topped with lots of homemade chimichuri sauce, sweet peppers and grilled onions) or their Pollo Diablo (mesquite grilled chicken breast topped with Mexican cheese and an array of other delicious ingredients). See their menu here then take a look at their drink menu which offers something for everyone, from non-alcoholic choices such as their Strawberry Lemon-Lime Sparkler to house specialties, including multiple tequilas, margaritas, beer, wine and more. You'll find Loco Burro on the strip at 735 Parkway Suite 1.
Shamrocks: Let the sound of music flowing through the night lead you over to Shamrock's. Offering a great pub atmosphere located at 105 Reagan Dr., Gatlinburg, Shamrocks offers outdoor live music that gets high reviews by visitors. You'll like the location which is off the strip in a newer shopping area. While you enjoy your drinks take in the live solo acts, musicians who take your requests, karaoke, guitar musicians, and more musical entertainment. This is also a fun place to watch sports on TV with your friends. The bar is a lot of fun and their inexpensive draft beer gets top ratings. They are also known for an excellent selection of regional and premium beers. Try their blue cheese burgers, fish and chips, club sandwiches, fries with cheese sauce, and their famous Shamrock Burger (8 oz. Black Angus burger). Take a look at their menu, here.
Crystelle Creek: Stop in to Crystelle Creek Restaurant & Grill located at 1654 East Pkwy. They're a much loved Gatlinburg restaurant and caterer (very highly ranked on TripAdvisor). Discover live entertainment every night of the week. Their entertainment schedule features musicians performing everything from '30s music to the latest hits. You'll enjoy a delicious meal and discover the range of music offered that also includes an array of local singers and songwriters. Come in on the second Monday of every month and enjoy Smoky Mountain Songwriters night where you'll hear award-winning local songwriters and singers.
Dinner is superb here as they feature top quality trout, salmon, Italian specialties, char-broiled shrimp, beef tenderloin, catfish, stuffed chicken breast and many more delicious choices. You'll want to save room for their homemade desserts, too. Check out their Sports Porch, a unique sports bar setting that's dog friendly. People bring their dogs along for a fun time enjoying sports and great food and drinks. Smoking is also allowed on the Sports Porch.
Three Jimmy's: Located at 1359 East Parkway, Suite F, this is one of the higher ranked restaurants in our area on TripAdvisor and rightly so as visitors repeatedly rave about the service and the food. Their new Fast and Fresh menu offers a great variety of specialties including their famous house made Gouda spinach dip served with hot crisp pita chips. You can also savor soup, salad, their signature The Three Jimmy burger (three patties, burgundy mushrooms, caramelized onions, applewood smoked bacon and smoked gouda cheese), Black Angus rib eye sandwiches, rainbow trout, Champagne Chicken and much more.
Three Jimmy's fun atmosphere and the bands that play there make it a popular night spot. Visitors enjoy darts and pool, and their porch is an enjoyable place to spend your lunchtime or a great spot to eat dinner. The casual atmosphere makes it perfect for most any group or families. You'll find karaoke nights, guitar musicians, bands and open mike on the entertainment schedule here. Check out their menu here.
Smoky Mountain Tunes & Tales: We have blogged about this great, free music and entertainment before but it's definitely worth mentioning again as we wouldn't want anyone to miss these talented local musicians, storytellers, artisans and entertainers who perform in downtown Gatlinburg.
Come visit downtown Gatlinburg from 5:00-10:00 pm spring weekends and 6:00-11:00 pm on summer nights (every night of the week through August 9) to get in on the fun. You can watch the Back Porch cloggers demonstrate time honored local dancing and maybe even learn a few steps while you watch! While the free cost is definitely attractive, the celebration of local heritage is something you really want to get in on. It's a memorable experience for the whole family.
Moonshine Distilleries: Gatlinburg is home to two of the best moonshine distilleries in the South — Ole Smoky Moonshine and Sugarlands Distillery. During summertime, great bands will be rocking the Holler with a mixture of country and bluegrass tunes. If you’re on your way to Gatlinburg to enjoy the beauty of the Smoky Mountains in summertime, plan to stop by Ole Smoky or Sugarlands to get a healthy dose of southern hospitality, good old fashioned moonshine, and toe-tapping country music.
