From Fruit to Berry & So Much More – Gatlinburg is Home to Many Distinctive Wineries

Start with the Sugarland Cellars Winery (get a $5.00 off coupon when you ride the Ober Gatlinburg Tram). This free winery tour culminates in a wine tasting. Their sweet, berry rich wines (many people like their Bing Cherry wine) are loved by people all over the country. This tour is a fun way to spend a few hours when walking the strip in Gatlinburg on a winter's day. So pick up a bottle or two of wine and purchase some of their great cheese too. Be sure to try their limited release Winter's Blessings wine, and each purchase includes a $5.00 donation to Friends of the Smokies (local non-profit that helps protect and maintain the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.)

Next you can try Bootlegger's Homemade Wines. They invite you to tour their winery and experience their wines made from all natural ingredients. They are known for their strawberry, blackberry and peach wines. Their pairing suggestions are helpful, such as with their Bootleggers White Table Wine (white, light wine), that they say goes well with pork, pasta or seafood. Try their Homegrown Muscadine Blush, which exemplifies the area's homemade heritage in a full-bodied wine bursting with local grape richness.

As East Tennessee’s oldest premium wine producer, Smoky Mountain Winery is a must see stop on your wine tour. This small winery offers a good selection of sweet wines. Visitors enjoy their Smoky Mountain Red, Peach, Sangria and dry white wines. This winery is also known for its Muscadine red wine and the helpful and informative staff that conducts the wine tastings. A unique feature of this winery is the wine ‘slushy’ they offer; people rave about it! Wine lovers adore Smoky Mountain Winery’s blackberry wine, be sure to try some when you visit!
