Sunrise Services, Music and Arts and Crafts Round Out the Calendar
Gatlinburg’s spring calendar is filled with family friendly events to celebrate the season. Easter weekend is no exception. Sunrise services, Easter Egg hunts, music, and arts and crafts make for a memorable holiday weekend for residents and visitors alike.
Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies has partnered with Kinder Joy for a variety of celebrations beginning Friday April 15. On Saturday everyone is invited to the Easter Eggstravaganza on the Aquarium Plaza from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Families will enjoy free games, crafts, giveaways, and pictures with the Easter Bunny. Throughout the weekend families visiting the Aquarium can participate in a free Scavenger Hunt and photos with the Easter Bunny.
Ober Gatlinburg Ski Area and Amusement Park invites the community to the annual Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. on April 17 at the Lodge on Mount Harrison. Visitors have the option to take a complimentary Tram ride to the lodge starting at 5 a.m. or drive up the mountain for free parking and shuttle rides. The ecumenical service is hosted by Smoky Mountain Resort Ministries. Seasons of Ober Restaurant will offer a breakfast buffet until 10:30 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held indoors.
Gatlinburg SkyLift Park is kicking off a series of Spring Sunrise VIP events beginning on Easter Sunday. The SkyLift will open at 6 a.m. with a brief word of encouragement and prayer at 6:58 a.m. Bagpiper Kelly Shipe and folk guitarist Richard Bennett will provide live music. Visitors to the park will enjoy festive decorations and photo opportunities throughout the day. Tickets are required for the Sunrise Easter Service and remaining sunrise events throughout April and May.
Smoky Mountain Tunes and Tales will be entertaining visitors along the Parkway in the evenings on April 14 to 16. Spinning stories and sing songs, the strolling cast brings to life the old timey ways of Appalachian culture.
Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community Easter Craft Show runs April 13 – 16 in the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Local artists and crafters offer unique, handmade items for purchase. The craft show is free to the public and open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
