Anakeesta will honor fallen members of our country’s military this Saturday, May 29, with a patriotic performance held at Anakeesta’s Black Bear Village.
The park will host a special, 45-minute tribute at 11 a.m. thanks to the contribution of the Veterans Military Honor Guard of Pigeon Forge. The Honor Guard will perform full military honors, including a silent 21-gun salute and a flag folding ceremony.
Following the demonstration, an Honor Guard representative, Honor Guard Commander Herbert C. Kraehmer, will detail the history and meaning of Memorial Day for visitors. Members with the cast of Americas Hit Parade will be at the ceremony as well, dressed in uniform, to perform the Armed Forces Medley.
Concluding the ceremony will be a performance of Taps, and a moment of silence in Black Bear Village.
As an additional thank you to current and retired military service members, Anakeesta is offering 25 percent off admission to service members and their immediate family. The discount begins Saturday, May 29, and continues through Memorial Day, May 31. To participate in the discount, current and retired military personnel will be asked to present their government ID at the ticket booth.
