Things to Do in Gatlinburg in the Summer

Are you always looking for fun things to do on the 4th of July? - Or the rest of the summer, for that matter? - The Gatlinburg calendar is so packed with seasonal special events, you may have a hard time deciding what to do in Gatlinburg. In August, there’s the Smoky Mountain Songwriters Festival, while July offers the popular River Raft Regatta and a spectacular fireworks show–both great things to do on the 4th of July.

Contrary to many destinations, the heat of the summer won’t impose any limits when choosing what to do in Gatlinburg. In August, the average high is only 86 degrees, while the average low is a comfortable 74 degrees.
