mountain hounds weekend

Owners of retired racing Greyhounds gather in Gatlinburg to support the rescue efforts of rescue activists.

The tenth annual Mountain Hounds is a weekend gathering that typically draws over 250 rescued Greyhounds and their owners from as many as 18 states. Most activities take place in Mynatt Park located off Historic Nature Trail (Traffic Light 8) and the public is welcome. Mountain Hounds attendees love sharing the joys of adopting retired racing Greyhounds with everyone they meet.

This year’s gathering is scheduled May 29 through June 2. The Sidney James Mountain Lodge is the host hotel.

The event is sponsored by Greyhound Friends of North Carolina, a non-profit charity dedicated to finding loving homes for retired racing Greyhounds while providing for their health and welfare. All funds raised at Mountain Hounds are used to feed, house and cover medical expenses of the Greyhounds in their care.
